Activity for Reformation of Basic Needs (ARBAN) is a leading Civil Society Organization committed to socio-economic research and development across various districts of Bangladesh. Established in June 2002, ARBAN is headquartered in Purbadhala under Netrokona District, with a fully functional office and training center in Dhaka. The organization strives to address the challenges of the 21st century by enhancing the socio-economic status and human capacity of communities, optimizing local talent and resources, fostering a knowledge-based self-reliant society, fulfilling basic citizen needs, and contributing to good governance, all while operating as a voluntary, non-profit entity. Guided by its mission to reduce inequality and empower marginalized populations, ARBAN applies a holistic, context-specific approach. Through participatory and non-directive self-development practices, it implements initiatives in education and skills development, entrepreneurship, ICT-based solutions, health, climate resilience, disaster response, and ecosystem conservation. Central to our mission is cultivating a knowledge-based society that focuses on skill development in vocational training and information technology (IT). With over two decades of experience, ARBAN has built strong institutional capacity to design, implement, and manage development programs in both rural and urban settings. The organization works collaboratively with government institutions, development partners, the private sector, and grassroots actors to achieve inclusive and sustainable outcomes. In addition, ARBAN provides technical expertise in training, capacity building, research, and project management. Its programs prioritize community participation, social inclusion, gender equity, and accountability, aiming to create lasting and meaningful improvements in the lives of disadvantaged groups.
In order to survive in the competitive global reality and aim for sustainable development, arban has already established several sector-based institutions at the local level, among which are: arban Academy, arbanNariJagron, arban Cooperative Society, arban Craft, arban IT and Today's arban.
